Kim Her is not bothered with failures of duo Kien Keat, Boon Heong – Badminton News
National doubles head coach Tan Kim Her is not bothered with the recent failures of Malaysian Men’s doubles experts Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong and still believes that the duo can lead the country to past glory in the London Olympics.
The former All-England runner up duo crashed out of All England Open this year in second round which resulted in their two ranks fall in the world rankings.
The Men’s doubles experts Kien Keat-Boon Heong are currently placed at 8th position which is their lowest ranking in last two years as they managed to stay in top rankings despite of their miserable performance in previous season.
This new low means that the couple will remain unseeded in the London Olympics as the only top four teams will be seeded.
However, Kim Her is at peace regarding their world ranking fall and claims it will not disturb their flight in the mega event despite of their unseeded appearance.
He said, “The rest will be drawn randomly so it doesn’t really matter that they’re now No. 8 as they still have to play one of the top four.”
The expected top four pairs are Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng of China, the Korean maestros Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae and Sung Hyun-Yeon Seong and the Men’s doubles team Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark.
The Malaysian couple Kien Keat-Boon Heong apparently has no chance to surge into the fantastic four but a new training session will really help them to elevate their badminton skills as the training camp before the Thomas Cup preliminaries had a magical
effect and they buried World Number three pair Sung Hyun-Yeon Seong in group match.
The duo is again sweating hard in practice sessions to avoid being bleeding chips at the mega event of London Olympics and Kim Her is giving special attention to them.
The coach said, “I am training Kien Keat-Boon Heong to mentally picture themselves competing against one of the top four during training. Hopefully, this will help them gain a mental edge when it comes to the Olympics.”
Meanwhile, the coach also gave them a wakeup call to stop their downfall otherwise they may have to compete as unseeded pair in the India open also which is going to be held from April 24-29.
