Kim Her jubilant over performance of Men’s Doubles in India Open 2012 – Badminton News
Doubles head coach of Malaysia Tan Kim Her is at cloud nine after watching an elevated performance from his top Men’s Doubles teams in second round of Yonex Sunrise India Open on April 26, 2012.
World Number eight Malaysian pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong edged Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan while National number two couple Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem stunned higher ranked Indonesian duo Mohammad Ahsan-Bona Septano in pre quarter-final round.
However, national coach Kim Her believes that time has not arrived yet to celebrate as both teams should not fritter away their efforts and they must make the best out of this opportunity.
Though, Kim Her was ecstatic over stunning performance by the back-up team V Shem-Khim Wah against one of the best couples in the world but he advised his shuttlers to use this tide of luck as Thomas Cup Finals are approaching. He hoped that they will shoulder
their responsibility in the esteemed team event.
Kim her said, “The win against the Indonesians is a timely boost ahead of the Thomas Cup Finals. This shows that our second pair can play their roles in the team event. They must ride on the momentum now.”
However, he also added that V Shem-Khim Wah should not repeat their mistake of Asian Badminton Championships when they crashed out after taking off in perfect manner.
Meanwhile, the other Malaysian campaigners Kien Keat-Boon Heong sealed a splendid straight-set victory over Japanese couple Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa to ensure their presence in round of eight.
Now the World Number eight couple will compete against Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputra of Indonesia in quarter-finals and the badminton guru Kim Her is hoping they register an avenging victory against their lower ranked challengers.
He said, “They next play Angga-Ryan, a pair whom they lost to at the Axiata Cup last month. This is a good chance for them to gain revenge. They are in good form I hope they will continue with their good showing.”
In quarter-final round, World Number 30 pair Lim Khim-V Shem will be looking to overcome the Russian duo Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov to win a spot in the semi-finals of India Open.
This current success is certainly a great opportunity for both teams to boost their confidence before prestigious events like Thomas Cup and the 2012 London Olympics.
