Kim Her satisfied with Olympic preparation of Kien Keat, Boon Heong – Badminton News
The prime Men’s Doubles team Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia is in preparatory period of London Olympics and chief coach Tan Kim Her is satisfied with their progress in the training session.
The coming edition of mega event will be in full swing from July 27, 2012 and every country, which has stakes in this tournament, is leaving no stone unturned to raise their chances for glory.
Malaysia will be hoping Kien Keat-Boon Heong fetch the first gold medal for the country as the Men’s Singles maestro Lee Chong Wei is not in the best of health right now.
At the moment, World Number six pair is busy in swinging arms in practice sessions before national training camp in Bath which will start from July 12, 2012.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) took unusual step by organising central training camp in England and Kim Her believes it will help national campaigners to get ready for the intense Olympics atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Doubles head coach showed contentment over preparation of his top duo and briefed that they have been training with National number two Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem to lift up the standards of their game.
Kim Her briefed that Khim Wah-V Shem will participate in Bath training camp as well to provide Kien Keat-Boon Heong some gruelling sessions.
He said, “The back-up shuttlers are providing good quality sparring for them. Khim Wah-V Shem will accompany them for the centralised training in Bath when the Olympic squad leave on July 12.”
Apart from Kien Keat-Boon Heong, the other Olympic bound Malaysian shuttlers are Lee Chong Wei and Mixed Doubles pair Goh Liu Ying-Chan Peng Soon.
Moreover, badminton guru also unveiled that he is keeping an eye on young Men’s Doubles experts Mohd Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid and Vountus Indra Mawan to evaluate their chances at the international level.
Kim Her stated that Vountus-Lutfi will represent Malaysia in Indonesia International Challenge, starting from July 2-7.
He added that this tournament will be their test and if they manage to register their mark then their future is secure in the national squad.
However, World Number 43 duo Vountus-Lutfi will face strong opposition from Thien How and Wee Kiong who have performed beyond expectations in last couple of months.
