Kim Her thinks BAM will bring in new coach after London Olympics – Badminton News

Men’s Doubles chief coach of Malaysia, Tan Kim Her believes that Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) should continue with same coaching staff and new coach to replace Yoo Yong Sung should be introduced after the 2012 London Olympics.
Trouble came in battalions for BAM as their two highly qualified foreign coaches stepped down just in a short period of one month.
Now the national Men’s Doubles squad, which consists of 22 shuttlers, is practicing under supervision of Kim Her and Pang Cheh Chang.
The badminton critics emphasised that BAM should immediately find proper replacements of Rexy Mainaky and Yong Sung.
However, the head coach Kim Her was bit composed on this issue. Though he admitted that new coach must be appointed but in the same breath he also stated that this may happen after London Games.
He said, "We may also look for a new coach to replace (Korean) Yoo Yong Sung but it is only expected to happen after the Olympics."
Reportedly, former coaches Mainaky and Yong Sung resigned owing to their differences with national coaching setup and their departure put BAM in a tough trial to find a suitable candidate for these vacant posts.
Now the national body is planning to appoint former international campaigner Razif Sidek to shoulder this responsibility and BAM is going to depend on its existing coaching team until his arrival.
The badminton guru Kim Her verified that there will be some shuffling in duties as for the time being as Women’s Doubles coach Chong Kien Leng will also guide Men’s Doubles experts while Rosman Razak will be supervising female shuttlers.
"In the meantime, Chong Kien Leng will be helping Pang Cheh Chang and I as Rosman Razak has now taken charge of the women's doubles squad."
Their immediate task is to equip Olympic-bound shuttlers with modern game techniques.
Meanwhile, BAM also came under fire for its failure in designing an effective training programme for local coaches and it is result of their incompetence that now they always have to look towards foreign coaches.
The badminton critics suggested that High Performance Team should be given the responsibility to launch coaching programmes across the country.
