Kim Hock believes Kien Keat, Boon Heong should elevate skills to excel in 2012 London Olympics
Former head coach of Malaysia Yap Kim Hock gave his vote of confidence to national Men’s Doubles team Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong but he also stated that they must improve their skills to excel in the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
The most prestigious badminton event will be staged in Wembley Arena from July 27 and Malaysia will be banking on Kien Keat-Boon Heong for an Olympic medal.
Kim Hock believes that the World Number eight pair can lead the country to glory if they enter in the mega event with some confidence. He urged that they must win some title at international level which ultimately will boost their confidence to compete world
class Olympic contenders.
He said, "Kien Keat-Boon Heong must win a title before the Olympics. They must set high targets if they want to win a medal in the Olympics. Winning a title will give them the confidence and belief to face top opponents again."
Former World Number one duo has been struggling to revive their old form. Their last prominent victory was Malaysia Open title in previous season and they came under fire for their long streak of failures in recent past.
However, the badminton guru Kim Hock is still confident that they will rise from the dust again and raise country’s flag in London Games but he also asserted that both Doubles experts should elevate their craft if they want to make the difference.
He said, "Boon Heong is consistent but he must be more focused while Kien Keat must improve his attacking game. They have been stagnant for the last two years and need to do things differently in order to achieve different results."
The prime Malaysian couple touched the apex of their game when they fetched the Asian Games crown in 2006 and then emerging as All-England Champions in 2007.
Kim Hock was the chief coach when they clinched these esteemed titles and now he is hoping they repeat history in the coming edition of Olympics.
Men’s Doubles experts Kien Keat and Boon Heong have a reasonable practicing time as they will swing their arms in Malaysia Open and Indonesia Open before participating in London Olympics.
