In recent days, Olympique Lyonnais midfielder, Kim Kallstrom’s future has come under a lot of scrutiny. The midfielder was rumoured to be on the verge of signing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 Premier League side Rubin Kazan. However, a move never materialised.
However, after seeing the move collapse, Kim Kallstrom is not at all disappointed.
Jean-Michel Aulas, the club president, revealed that the Russians proposed Lyon an offer of just 5 million Euros for his services which was not the market value for him.
The Swede also says that his side is playing in four different competitions. His departure at this point would certainly have affected the team terribly.
However, Kallstrom chose to break the ice while talking to Swedish daily, Aftonbladet.
“Lyon said no. it would have been exciting. It would have been quite a challenge and the club has more money than Lyon. Would I have been captivated by this adventure? Why not? But Lyon said no. it was not the right time to leave.”
However, Kallstrom adds that Russians have been successful in Europe and in a few years, Russia would be hosting the World Cup. The Swede also said that wages are good in the Russian Premier League so he will see what will transpire in the summer transfer
window.
Suffice to say that if he chose to stay at Lyon, Kallstrom would definitely have been tempted to play for Rubin Kazan who seem to have lost their way after bursting into the Champions League a few years ago.
Under contract at Lyon until 2014, Kallstrom might be sold to the Russian side if they are able to come up with a proposal that the Lyon hierarchy can’t deny.
Furthermore, with Aulas keen on offloading a few players in the summer transfer window to cut down his club’s losses, a move for Kallstrom could be on the move away from the Stade de Gerland. The Swede is also keen on a new experience so both parties might
come to a mutual agreement in the summer.
