Kim Kardashian files for divorce with Nets Kris Humphries after seventy two days - NBA News
Celebrity marriages are short lived and usually destined to turn out badly.
Take the example of pop sensation of 2000s, Britney Spears, whose marriage with her childhood friend Jason Alexander only lasted an astonishing two and a half days or Eddie Murphy, whose marriage with movie producer Tracey Edmonds
couldn’t last for more than two weeks. There are several other such examples.
This trend is synonymous when it comes to the knots between NBA players and other celebrities. Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman’s marriage with the glamorous Carmen Electra lasted for only ten days and recently Eva Longoria filed for
divorce from San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker after their three years marriage.
The NBA celebrity breakups had a new addition recently and that came in the shape of a split between reality TV star Kim Kardashian, who announced her divorce with New Jersey Nets Kris Humphries.
Couple tied a knot 72 days back, in front of five hundred people in what was a grand $ 20 million event and broadcasted on the national television as well. Kardashian was believed to have quoted “irreconcilable differences” as
the reason for the separation.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," she said. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain
friends and wish each other the best."
Also adding
"I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed into something too soon,"
Kim’s mom revealed there were problems between the couple from the very first day, however both had hoped that they will fade away with time. When it didn’t, Kim decided to end the marriage.
Kris was completely unaware of this development and was “shocked and heartbroken” when the news reached him later in the evening. According to him, this marriage was going smooth and there was no reason whatsoever for such a drastic
move by Kim.
“I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant presents. I love my wife and I’m devastated to learn she filed for divorce…I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work” he said.
US celebrity gossip website TMZ.com has revealed Kris immediately has hired an agent and is trying to convince Kim to change her decision.
According to some sources, Kris wanted Kim to move to his hometown Minnesota, something she thought would hurt her career badly and that might be one of the reasons she decided to take this step.
Whatever the reason is, things don’t look good for Kris. He was already going through a tough time with the NBA lockout and now this news must have destroyed him completely.
