Kim Poulsen collects second round impressive knockout out win over Beka Sadjaia – Boxing news
Kim Poulsen, the Danish number one light welterweight, made his countrymen proud by stretching his huge win streak after collecting an impressive second-round technical knockout win over the heavily experienced Beka Sadjaia, the former number one contender
for the Polish international light welterweight gold, in an eight-round bout held on April 7, 2012.
The ring for the Saturday night show was stretched at Aalborg Kongres & Kultur center situated in Aalborg, Denmark and the event was promoted by Euro Event’s Allan Back. This was the maiden pay-per-view organised and promoted by the Euro Event and was televised
on almost all the major Danish channels.
The above duo headlined the night whereas the eight-round battle between Kasper Bruun and Nugzar Margvelashvili co-headlined the Saturday night show. Kim was seriously outclassed by Beka’s experience and the engagement was being hypothecated as a tooth-and-nail
one.
But the result and the pace of the bout tarnished the expectations of not only the critics but also the spectators present in the packed arena. The Danish proud was entering in his career’s 21st bout and boasted 19 wins, five of them via knockout.
Beka, on the other hand, possessed a hefty experience of 45 bouts and exhibited 28 wins, 10 of them via knockout, in his resume. In addition, Kim never fought high-calibre men and above all did not enter bouts with titles on the line.
The Georgian ‘Saja’, on the contrary, has been the number one contender for several titles but was unfortunate to win any of them. The two advantages Kim depended upon were the height and the hometown one.
The bout kicked off and Kim started throwing heavy-duty jabs that connected Beka’s body and face inflicting as much damage possible. Sadjaia, surprisingly, did not do much and was reluctant from the very first second.
The first round ended and Kim was heavily leading the scorecard. The second round started and was the mirror image of the first one since for reasons unknown Beka did not generate any jabs and was sluggish in fact was flattened twice by Kim.
After the passage of two minutes and 51 seconds, Beka complained about severe pain in his shoulder and demanded a time out for medical inspection. Niels Jorn Lindgaard Kjeldsen, the designated doctor of the whole event, examined the injured area and advised
the referee to halt the bout.
The whole crowd was due at booing the unimpressive and lacklustre performance of Beka and the unanticipated outcome of the bout. Kim now has 20 wins with six of them via knockout and Beka has collected his career’s 17th defeat.
