Kim Un Sun ousts Derevaygina Viktoria in Women’s Singles qualifying round of Russian Open GP 2011
Kim Un Sun, a player from the People’s Republic of Korea, reserved her place in the Women’s Singles main round after beating Russia’s Derevaygina Viktoria, in the qualifying round of the Russian Open GP 2011, in Russia, on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.
Kim Un dug deep into her arsenal to produce better shots and beat the Russian in a rubber-set battle, which took 40 minutes of high-quality badminton. In the first set of the match, both shuttlers played fast to dominate the game. They were employing all
their skills to build and maintain a good lead in the game.
Until the 60-second interval in the opening set of the game, Kim Un was the leader as she took a three-point advantage by reaching at 11-8.
After the break, Kim Un continued her dominance in the game against the local shuttler, who was making many errors while trying to catch up with the speed of her opponent. Kim Un was successful in the opening set by playing better and won it by a decent
gap of 21-18, in 14 minutes.
However, Viktoria bounced back in the second game by playing with precision. She employed more variations in her strokes against Kim Un, who was also keeping her speed at the maximum level.
Both ladies progressed in the match by remaining close until the score reached at 17-17, where the Russian played well, whereas, Kim Un made some mistakes and lost the game by a margin of 21-13, in 16 minutes.
A spirited Kim Un played an attacking game in the third set, where he spared no chance for her challenger in the entire set. Viktoria failed to cope up with the speed and accuracy of her opponent. Kim Un played a planned game against the Russian and finished
the encounter by winning the set with a 21-11 score, in just 10 minutes.
The 40-minute fight ended with the victory of Kim Un, who played better badminton and won the match with a 21-18, 21-23 and 21-11 score on the board.
