Kimi Raikkonen: Lotus are capable of strong results – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that his team is capable enough of winning races while he said that he is not feeling disappointed after his ninth place finish in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Raikkonen is presently standing at 6th place in the drivers’ championship with 51 points. Moreover, he is 6 points ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and 8 points behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
He has performed quite convincingly in the season so far as he secured two podium finishes in fourth and fifth races. Afterwards, he was one of the most favourite drivers for the Monaco GP. However, he struggled with his pace during the weekend in Monte
Carlo.
Nevertheless, he said that the British team has got the potential to claim victory and he is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching races.
“We've been quick everywhere and we've been on podium,” he said. “It's difficult to get everything exactly right at right time, which is what you have to do to win a grand prix. I've won races with other teams and I have a good feeling that Lotus are capable
of strong results. Our day will come.”
He added, “One race doesn't change fact that we have been pretty strong everywhere - even at Monaco during most of the weekend. Monaco is completely different from any other track and I don't think we should worry too much about fact that it wasn't our best
weekend.”
On the other hand, his teammate, Romain Grosjean has also performed reasonably well in the season until now. The French driver is currently at 8thposition in the drivers’ rankings with 35 points. Additionally, he is 6 points ahead of Pastor Maldonado of
Williams and 10 points behind Button.
Above and beyond, Lotus, with the perfect blend of talent and expertise, are trying their best to make the essential developments and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the upcoming races in order to secure a competitive
position in 2012 F1 championship.
