Kimi Raikkonen aims fifth win in 2012 Belgian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is looking forward to secure his fifth win in the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix which is going to be held at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
Raikkonen said that although he has performed tremendously well at Spa in the past and has scored four victories there. However, he asserted that his wins in the previous years have nothing to do with the upcoming race. Moreover, he said that he is eying
to win the Belgian GP for the 5th time.
In addition, he said that he has not been able to claim victory in the season until now therefore he is earnestly looking forward to score win in the approaching race. He also said that his target is to keep on scoring points in the season ahead with consistency.
"Usually I've achieved good results at Belgian Grand Prix, but what's happened before doesn't help me right now. Saying that though it doesn't do any harm either. Obviously it would be great to win at Spa for a fifth time. I haven't won during first part
of the season and extra points are always good," said the Finn.
"For me there have only been good memories from Spa and it's great to go racing there. You can't get the same kind of feeling anywhere else. It's great to race with modern racing car at proper circuit that has such great tradition," he added.
Additionally, the Finnish driver said that the changing conditions of the track of the next race will be a great challenge for all the drivers in the field and they will get a perfect chance to demonstrate their potential.
Besides, he said that it is extremely important to have a car which is perfect in regard to the aerodynamics so as to tackle the fast corners of the circuit in the upcoming race.
Over and above, he said that it is crucial for them to enhance their qualifying pace in the race ahead while he said that he is eagerly looking forward to the free Friday practice to assess the upgrades in their car E20.
