Kimi Raikkonen asserts Sergio Perez ruined their race in Monaco – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that Sergio Perez of McLaren ruined their race in Monaco because of his aggressive driving due to which they lost some crucial points in the championship fight.
Raikkonen performed convincingly well in the qualifying of the Monaco Grand Prix. Later, he took a great start in the race and was fighting for the fifth place while he had a collision with Perez who tried to overtake him. Resultantly, he had to move back
to the pits to get his car fixed and could only secure 10th place finish.
After the race, the Finnish driver expressed that the Mexican driver should be punched in the face for what he did at Circuit de Monaco.
On his arrival in Canada, he asserted that the 23-year-old ruined their race because of which he is feeling very angry. Although, he said that they managed to score one point in the race. However, he insisted that they have lost some important points due
to which their position has become weakened in the championship battle.
“I don't feel any different now because it doesn't change the fact that he ****ed up our race,” he said. “Even if you asked one year from now it's still the same ending. We got one point back but it doesn't take away that it wasn't right.”
“I spoke with the stewards and they thought it was a racing incident,” he added. “They said I did nothing wrong but obviously there has to be somebody who did something wrong. I don't think it's going to change anything but Charlie spoke to Perez. I don't
know what they talked about.”
Presently, the 2007 world champion is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 86 points. Besides, he is ahead of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and behind his major rival, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing. He has secured two second podium
finishes and a race victory in the season so far. It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the next race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9, 2013.
