Kimi Raikkonen believes Sebastian Vettel can win 2011 title easily – Formula 1 news
The 2007 Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has recently stated that he believes Sebastian Vettel can easily win the 2011 title since he has a very good lead and he does not even have to win ‘any more races’ in order to defend that.
However, he did admit that mostly when a driver has such a lead, the other drivers do catch up and Vettel’s lead at the moment is catchable.
“Quite often the situation levels off by the end if someone has pulled out early in the season. (But) Vettel probably doesn't even have to win any more races in order to stay in front until the end,” he said.
Other than that, he also revealed that he still ‘does not know’ about his future in Formula 1 as he does not have any plans of returning to the sport anytime soon and is quite confused regarding this matter.
“I don't know. Even if you ask the same thing a hundred different ways, the answer stays the same. If I don't know then nobody else does either,” he answered when asked about his chances of returning to the sport.
There were rumours that he might return to the sport in 2011 with Lotus Renault GP after Robert Kubica went through a near fatal accident and had to be replaced but it turned out that Raikkonen was least interested in that deal.
He is also one of those people who are not a fan of the Drag Reduction System as he believes that it has nothing to do with real overtaking.
“It doesn't have anything to do with real overtaking. All you do is move close and push a button and the guy in front can't do anything about it,” he insisted.
The Finn is currently a rally driver and it seems that if he is given a good opportunity or a team in Formula 1 like McLaren, Ferrari or Red Bull Racing, he might consider returning to the sport.
