Kimi Raikkonen believes that he will improve in upcoming races – Formula 1 news
Kimi Raikkonen believes that he and Lotus have got a good understanding of how they are going to setup the qualifiers for him.
The Finn is confident that he will be able to move higher up the grid at the new few races with this new setup which he believes is the right direction.
Raikkonen is in his comeback year the Finn was out of the sport for nearly two years and has made quite the comeback as he has been able to secure multiple podium finishes already in the season.
Although Raikkonen felt that he has missed out on good opportunities to get Grand Prix wins in the season but it has still been able to shut out his critics who questioned his motivations and dedication to excel after a two year hiatus.
“I think we've had a chance [of getting on the front row] at a few races but we haven't got the best out of it and maybe we have made mistakes a few times,” he said. “But at the last race we had a pretty good qualifying and hopefully we feel a bit more comfortable
to go into qualifying than we did before - personally, at least for me. Hopefully we have found the right direction and the small details that mean we can be even more comfortable here and at the next race.”
Raikkonen feels that qualifiers has been a weak point for the team recently and he hopes that he can come up with improved performances in the qualifiers in the coming races to finish better and possible achieve victory.
He explained that he had a pretty good start off the line at the European Grand Prix but then he got blocked in the first kink and dropped a few placed down early on and had to recover during the race.
Raikkonen added that tyre management does not have that much of an impact on the races, as a team the only thing that needs to be done is to improve on what is being done and the results will show.
Raikkonen also added that he is not thinking about the titles at the moment and trying to focus on each race individually.
