Kimi Raikkonen can give tough time to his major rivals in remainder of 2012 Formula 1 season
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen certainly stands amongst one of the most competitive contenders in the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship and will definitely give a tough time to his major rivals, which include, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel of
Red Bull Racing and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren, in the remainder of the season.
Raikkonen has joined the Enstone based team in this season after taking part in the World Rally Championship during the last two years. Although, he struggled in Rally throughout the preceding two seasons but he has performed tremendously well in the first
year of his return to F1 and has impressed everyone with his amazing pace.
It will be important to mention that team principal of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner called the Finnish driver a major threat in this year’s title chase and said that he has got an incredible talent with which he can challenge any driver.
Additionally, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali also praised the performance of Raikkonen in the season until now and called him one of the most competent title contenders in this year’s championship.
Furthermore, it is to be noted that the British team has struggled with its qualifying pace in the season so far due to which the Finn has not been able to secure competitive results. Nonetheless, after the Japanese Grand Prix, their team principal, Eric
Boullier has said that they had planned to launch their new double-DRS device with which they would be able to enhance their pace.
In addition, Boullier said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the remainder of the season so as to make their mark stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“Every time you bring new developments you hope that they will work as predicted,” Boullier said. “The upgrades for Korea are a big step; it is the opening of a new era for us. We expect that they are going to work, but of course it's always a difficult
task to find the correct setup for the car when you are also evaluating new parts. What happened with our “DDRS” shows that you can't take any improvement for granted until you actually measured it on the track. Let's say that we are cautiously optimistic.”
Let’s see how the 2007 world champion performs in the remaining three grands prix of the current season.
