Kimi Raikkonen denies that he is too careful on the track – Formula 1 news
Lotus F1 driver, Kimi Raikkonen, has denied that he is too careful over the track while driving which has prevented him from crashing into other drivers.
“It’s better than having a reputation for crashing every race,” Raikkonen said. “I’ve never suffered because of it. You don’t get past me easily, but I also don’t fight like crazy if there is no possibility to hold them behind, because you just end up losing
time and they’ll eventually get past anyway.”
Raikkonen has recently spoken in appreciation of Lotus F1. He said that the team is different as compared to the others as it does not get involved in politics but gives more importance to racing. He said that the past season was not easy but they were definitely
consistent and he does want to do better than this during the next season. He told that he is hoping for the team to be stronger and improve their car next year.
Raikkonen returned to F1 after remaining absent for two seasons. He has had a very consistent season and the fact that he is being said to be very careful is due to the reason that he completed all twenty races of the season. The driver finished all races
in the points section except the one in China where his final standing was fourteenth. He earned an epic victory at the Abu Dhabi GP after a long time. His overall position at the end of the season was third with a total of 207 points which is 74 points behind
the current world champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
The Finnish driver had been under speculation for having lost his interest in racing as he started the 2009 season with poor performance.
However, he achieved podium finishes with third and second places in Monaco and Hungary respectively. He also won the Belgian GP that was the only race victory for Ferrari that year. He lost pace again by the end of that season. Fernando Alonso, who was
one of the favourites to win the championship this year, replaced Raikkonen as he quit F1.
