Kimi Raikkonen feels happy with Lotus progress – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is extremely pleased with his team’s progress and is aiming to perform well in the qualifying of the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Raikkonen has performed really well in the season so far and has secured four podium finishes. Even though, he has been seen struggling with his qualifying pace which according to him is the reason that he has not been able to claim a grand prix victory
until now. Nevertheless, he expressed that they have been trying their best to resolve the issues which they face in the qualifying and hope to see improvements in the forthcoming race.
Furthermore, the Finnish driver set the second best time during the second free Friday practice session at Hungaroring in Budapest. However, he underplayed the results of FP2 and asserted that he is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the qualifying
to achieve competitive grid slot for the race ahead.
“It was a normal Friday for me,” Raikkonen said. “We did the normal things and tried to make the car as quick as it can be. We were second fastest which was good, and we've managed to improve the setup on my car over the last few races so I've been pretty
happy with it. We're just making small improvements, but we're making them all the time and going in the right direction. It's only Friday, but we're hoping for another good day tomorrow.”
Moreover, the technical director of Lotus, James Allison said that they have tested their new double DRS device during the Friday practice.
Although he said that they faced little bit problem during the afternoon due to rain as they could not collect the essential amount of information. Nonetheless, he said that they are very much contended with their progress and hope to attain good results
in the upcoming race.
Besides, he said that they have tried their best to resolve the issues which Raikkonen has been facing in the last few grand prix regarding the power steering and tyre handling.
