Kimi Raikkonen feels motivated for remainder of 2012 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is feeling highly motivated for the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season and is taking inspiration from 2007, in which he claimed the world championship title.
Raikkonen struggled a little bit with his new Coanda-effect exhaust layout and could only secure 5th place finish in the Korean Grand Prix due to which he is now 48 points behind Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who is currently leading the
drivers’ championship. Moreover, the veteran German driver has become the most favourite title contender and seems to be unbeatable from here, after claiming his third consecutive win at Korea International Circuit.
Nevertheless, the Finnish driver has said that he is not disappointed over his result in the preceding race and is confidently looking forward to perform well in the remaining four races of the ongoing season. Besides, he said that they are trying their
best to come up with the substantial step-ups so as to reduce the gap to Vettel in the approaching races.
“There's no point setting targets; we just need to keep working as hard as we can to score strong points and see what happens from there,” Raikkonen said. “In terms of championship, gap to Sebastian is quite big now so it will be very difficult to catch
him, but we'll keep pushing all the way.”
In addition, he said that they need to push really harder to attain competitive results in the forthcoming races. Furthermore, he asserted that he is feeling very much encouraged and is hoping to score points with consistency in the season ahead.
“We have to keep working hard and keep a high level of motivation. Personally I feel my own motivation is very high like it has always been,” he said.
Additionally, he said that he is not upset over the issues which he has faced in few races until now and is drawing inspiration from the year in which he won the title after making a tremendous comeback.
“Of course, in 2007 the championship wasn't decided until last race so anything is possible. Let's see what happens,” he added.
