Kimi Raikkonen feels pretty happy about 2012 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is pretty happy with his third position in the 2012 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship and believes that it couldn’t have been better than this.
Raikkonen participated in the World Rally Championship during the last two years where he failed to prove his potential after the pre-mature termination of his contract with Ferrari back in 2009.
He made his comeback with the Enstone based team in this season and performed tremendously well for his team. It is to be noted that he is the only driver who has completed all the races and has successfully scored points in 19 of them.
Furthermore, he has scored points with amazing consistency and has secured six podium finishes. Additionally, he also claimed one race victory in Abu Dhabi.
The Finnish driver was considered as one of the most competitive contenders in this year’s championship and was deemed as a major threat by the top teams including Red Bull Racing and Ferrari.
The 2007 world champion said that he has tried to deliver his best in this season and admired the efforts of his team which has provided him one of the most competent cars in the field.
“I just tried to do my best and to score points of course you have to finish the race. We had a good car and I didn't get involved in too many incidents with other people,” Raikkonen said.
In addition, he said that he is now looking forward to come up even stronger in the next season and is aiming to attain better results for his team. Besides, he said that he is extremely pleased with his overall performance in this season.
“I didn't really have any expectations for the year, so I think it's been a pretty good season. We've had some good results and we've finished every race. Certainly from a race reliability perspective it's been excellent,” he said.
“In terms of results, it could have been better, but it could have been an awful lot worse. Overall, I'm pretty happy,” he added.
Let’s see how the Finn shows up in the coming year.
