Kimi Raikkonen feels really happy after winning 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is extremely happy for his team after winning the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is hoping to score more victories in the next season.
Raikkonen has performed remarkably well in the season so far and has impressed everyone with his tremendous driving skills, just in the first year of his return to the sport.
Moreover, he has scored points with admirable consistency and has finally claimed his first victory of the ongoing season at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
Even though, he didn’t express much after scoring his first win since 2009, nevertheless, he said that he is feeling very pleased, mainly for his team which has worked really hard in the season until now.
“I guess last time you guys were giving me s*** because I didn't care enough [when I won], so [you're doing the same] this time again,” he responded to a question about how it felt to win again.
“But I'm very happy for the team and myself, but mainly for the team. It's been a very hard season for the team and not so many easy times lately,” he said.
In addition, he said that they are hoping to carry on their good form in the coming year so as to emerge as a more competent team.
“I hope this can turn around the tables and give us many more good races and wins - if not this year then next year as well,” he added.
Furthermore, he said that he is now targeting to win the last two races of the season in order to help his team in securing a good position in this year’s championship fight.
At present, he is standing at third place in the drivers’ championship. Besides, he is ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and is behind his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
It will be interesting to see how the 2007 world champion performs in the remaining two grands prix of the current season and whether he will be able to achieve his target or not.
