Kimi Raikkonen feels unhappy on his second place finish in the Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is not feeling happy on his second place finish in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix, but is confidently looking forward to attain better results in the season ahead.
Raikkonen performed amazingly well in the last race at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and managed to secure second podium finish after qualifying for 4th grid position. Although, he tried his best to overtake Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who
showed remarkable pace and claimed his second victory of the season since, but failed to match the Spaniard’s pace.
The Finn has said that they are quite unhappy with their result in the preceding race. Nevertheless, he said that he is satisfied with his performance as long as he manages to secure competitive results for his team. Besides, he asserted that they are aiming
to deliver their best in the season ahead to make their mark stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“We are not happy to finish second and until everything goes exactly as you want and you win races then we will not be happy,” Raikkonen said. “Sometimes one day it is better for you and sometimes it is more difficult and we just try to get the best out
of every race day.”
In addition, he said that he has successfully closed the gap to the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing after the last round in the drivers’ championship and is targeting to come up stronger in the forthcoming races.
“We try and we want to win. Today we caught up with Sebastian a little bit in the points so even on a disappointing day something good has come out of it,” the Finnish driver said.
Currently, he is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 85 points. Furthermore, he is 13 points ahead of Alonso and just 4 points behind his main rival, Vettel.
The 2007 world champion has been one of the most consistent point scorers in the season so far. It will be thrilling to see how he shows up in the Monaco GP.
