Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus says that he is satisfied with his one championship – Formula 1 news
Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus is not desperate for the second championship of his career and is satisfied with the one he has already attained.
He said that he is happy with the one championship he has attained in 2007 and is not desperate for the second. He added that if he gets a chance to win another championship then it would be great but if he does not, it would not change his life in the long
run.
“I always said if I win one then I'm happy and if something comes after that then it's good but I don't desperately want it. We'll do everything that we can to try to win it but if it doesn't come then it doesn't come - it doesn't change my life in the long
run,” he said.
Raikkonen added that they will try their best to win and attain the championship but if he could not even then he would be fine with it. Besides, he said that he will stop driving whenever he wanted and will not drag his Formula 1 career to achieve another
championship.
The Finnish driver added, “When I feel I want to stop I'll stop, it's not that I'm going to carry on to try and win it.”
Furthermore, he admitted that Fernando Alonso of Ferrari is in a good position but he believes that still there a lot of points available and one bad race would be enough to turn things around.
Moreover, he admired the performance of the Spanish driver and said that he is at the first place in the championship with a gap of around 40 points from the runner up so it is good for Ferrari.
Raikkonen currently holds fifth place in the championship with 116 points. He is only one point behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. Currently, McLaren and Lotus are nearly going side by side and it is expected that the Belgian GP would provide a conclusion
between the two. McLaren is the runner up in the championship with 193 points whereas Lotus is at the third position with 192 points, until now.
