Kimi Raikkonen says F1 is his top priority and he is happy to be back – Formula 1
Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is happy with his return to Formula 1 and is well settled in with Lotus.
Raikkonen added that he does not think of his comeback to Formula 1 as a second career. Raikkonen has been the target of much criticism by sceptics who believe that Raikkonen does not have the motivation or the dedication to the sport that will enable him
to be successful in his comeback season.
The Finn has continuously rejected any such notions and has said that he is rearing to go and will put in all his effort to give his team the benefit.
“I don't think this is my second career,” Raikkonen said. “I've been racing all the time, just in a different thing. I've been racing at a few different teams and all the teams run a slightly different way.”
He explained that it is mainly due to the different nationalities that they differ but there is always something that you can pick up and learn from different environments, and luckily for him it has been all good memories for him so far.
The Finn said that he tries to get things in the team how he sees them and how he wants to manage them, that is something that keeps him happy. The teams he has worked with have all been able to make him happy.
Raikkonen added that he has had a very comfortable time with Lotus and that environment has helped him to gel with the team. Raikkonen has so far been able to show good form in the new E20. If the pre-season tests are a good measure for success in the season,
Lotus is in a strong position.
The team though are not showing any high aspirations at the moment and are maintaining that they are not expecting to challenge the top teams but it will happen gradually. They are happy with the performance of the new car, and it is going to act as a launch
pad for further success.
It will be interesting to see how Lotus fares during the season due to begin on March 18, 2012.
