Kimi Raikkonen says Formula 1 plays no role in his personal life – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that Formula 1 plays no role in his personal life however he expressed that he feels pleased with his comeback to the sport.
The Finnish driver left F1 couple of years ago and went to take part in World Rally Championship. He spent two years in rallying and made his return with Lotus in this season.
He has shown quite impressive performances in the three of the first four races in the year so far. In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia, he secured 7th place finish after starting the race from 17th grid position.
In the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he qualified for 10th place in the grid and came 5th in the race.
Conversely, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, although he started the race from 4thposition in the grid, nonetheless, he could not manage to score even a single point and finished at 14th place.
Over and above, he secured an incredible second podium finish in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir even after he set off from 11th place in the grid.
Where on one hand all the contenders are striving to improve their race performance, on the other hand, Raikkonen asserted that he does not feel happy with his second place finish in the last race while he said that he is delighted with his comeback until
now.
“It's not going too bad,” Raikkonen told Bild am Sonntag. “I like what I'm doing, that's enough. I don't care if someone says whether I'm doing it well or not. Still, it's disappointing when you're only second. Who knows what's going to happen at the next
race.”
Besides, he said that unlike other people in the sport, he does not consider F1 his life.
“No, I'm only here for racing. All the other bulls**t I can do without. If you took away the cars from Formula One, I would not be there. Formula One plays no role in my personal life. I have a real life! I think for many people, their life is Formula One.
For me it's not,” he added.
