Kimi Raikkonen says Lotus will try to do better in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that they will try to achieve better results in the 2013 Formula 1 season as compared to 2012 in which they struggled with their qualifying pace in quite a few grands prix.
Raikkonen made a tremendous comeback with Lotus in the preceding season after taking part in World Rally Championship for two years. Even though, he could only claim one race victory in the last season. But, he was the most consistent point scorer and performed
inspiringly well throughout the year.
He secured third place finish in the last year’s drivers’ championship. Besides, he stayed ahead of his main rival, Lewis Hamilton and behind Fernando Alonso.
Although, he faced few issues in his car during the first test held at Jerez circuit in Spain, nevertheless, he seemed quite confident over the developments in E21. Moreover, he has said that they are looking forward to make the most out of the next two
pre-season tests in order to come up stronger right from the start of this season.
“We try to do better and hopefully we manage to do it,” Raikkonen said. “I think everybody is aiming to do better than what they did the previous years. Even if you win the championship you still try and improve things and I cannot promise that we will manage
to do that, but that's our aim and hopefully we can do that.”
It will be important to mention that the Finnish driver set the fastest time on the final day of the first test and expressed that he is having a more comfortable pre-season this year as compared to the previous one.
He emphasised that they will have to work really hard to compete well with their major opponents in this season.
“It's more easy because I know the team and I know the people and they know me. But it doesn't mean we will suddenly going to be much faster and do much better,” he added.
The competition is expected to be even tougher in this season. Let’s see how all the teams show up in the next test in Barcelona.
