Kimi Raikkonen says Sebastian Vettel has not changed – Formula 1 news
Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus has said that his friend Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing has not changed after winning the last two championship titles.
Vettel has won the last two drivers’ championships out of which he completely dominated during the preceding season in which he claimed 11 victories in 19 Grands Prix.
The double world champion is at sixth position in the drivers’ standing until now. Furthermore, it will be interesting to mention that the defending champion has not been able to perform well during the qualifying of both the races held at Albert Park in
Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Nevertheless, he secured second podium finish at the season opener but could not score even a single point in the second GP because of his collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT.
Moreover, there have been many discussions regarding the issue of Vettel and Karthikeyan clash in which the German driver showed his middle finger to the Indian driver.
In addition, Vettel was very much criticised by Karthikeyan but he did not feel sorry for his arrogant expression.
Conversely, Raikkonen said that Vettel has not changed even after being victorious in the last two seasons.
“He has won two titles since then but it didn't change him. Sebastian is a great racing driver but he's also a really nice guy,” said Raikkonen.
The Finnish driver is currently at seventh position in the drivers’ championship.
It is to be noted that he returned to F1 after two years during which he raced in the World Rally Championship. Even though, he could not qualify for a competitive grid position after the qualifying of the first two races however, he secured seventh and
fifth place finish in the opening two Grands Prix.
Besides, the Finnish driver also said that he is the same person as he was before while he said that F1 has not changed radically.
“I'm still the same person as I was before,” he said. “Maybe people see me as more relaxed, which I think is down to the team. It's a different atmosphere to what I've experienced before.”
