Kimi Raikkonen says he is not concerned with his past performance at Monza – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is not taking into consideration his past performance at the Autodromo de Monza where he has never been able to score victory until now.
Raikkonen performed tremendously well in the Belgian Grand Prix during the last week and secured an inspiring third podium finish. Moreover, it is to be noted that the Finnish driver felt comfortable at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps because he has won four
races there.
Even though, he has not been able to win any race in Italy and has faced difficulties to execute his full potential there. However, he is not taking into account his previous record and has asserted that he is focussing to achieve victory in the upcoming
race.
“It's true that I have never won in Italy,” Raikkonen said. “For one reason or another things just did not work out for me. It doesn't mean I can't drive the track. Just because I have not won at a circuit in the past it doesn't mean that I won't win or
get a good result there in future. Hopefully we will have a real chance to fight for that victory this time.”
In addition, he said that he had some great moments at Monza during the last time he raced there with Ferrari. Furthermore, he said that he is hoping to get a good reception from the Finnish fans this weekend.
“It's the place where we go really, really fast. It's great to go there with everything working well in the car and seeing how quickly you can go,” he added.
Besides, he said that he is earnestly looking forward to get a good response from the fans if he secures a podium finish in the upcoming race as a Lotus driver.
The Finn is an extraordinarily talented driver in the field and has performed amazingly well in the season so far as he has secured six podium finishes. Although, he is yet to score a race win but he is still one of the most favourite drivers in this year’s
title chase. Let’s see how he comes up in the approaching race.
