Kimi Raikkonen says he is ready for the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is ready for the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix despite losing some crucial points in the championship because of his collision with Sergio Perez of McLaren in Monaco.
Raikkonen showed impressive pace in the qualifying of the Monaco GP and was running at fifth position during the ending laps. However, he had a collision with Perez who tried to overtake him. Resultantly, he came down and could
only secure 10th place finish in the race.
The Finnish driver was very angry at the Mexican driver after the race and asserted that the 23-year-old should be punched in the face. Nevertheless, he has recently stated that he has moved on from the harsh incident of the preceding
race and is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching race.
“No one wants to lose so many points thanks to the actions of another driver, but that race is over; Monaco is just a distant memory and I'm all ready for Canada,” Raikkonen said.
In addition, he expressed contentment over his result in the last race and said that even though they have lost some important points in Monte Carlo, but the championship is not over yet and they are targeting to come up stronger
in the season ahead.
“We had a bad result, that was clear for anyone to see. It could have been even worse, but it could have been much better as well. We came out with one point so at least we got something back after losing the solid fifth place,
but that's not much consolation,” he said.
“We lost ground on the lead in Monaco, but it's not over yet,” he added.
The 2007 world champion has performed incredibly well in the season until now. He is currently standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 86 points. Besides, he is ahead of his major opponent, Fernando Alonso of
Ferrari and behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
It will be exciting to see how he performs in the forthcoming races and whether he will be able to catch Vettel or not.
