Kimi Raikkonen says he is waiting for the right time to make decision about 2014 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen has said that he is waiting for the right time to make the decision about the 2014 Formula 1 season and will do whatever he thinks will be good for him regardless of the opinion of other people.
Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing is going to retire from F1 at the end of this season and Raikkonen has been considered as the top candidate to replace the Australian driver. Although, the Milton Keynes based squad have been having conversations with the Finnish driver, nothing has been finalised until now. Meanwhile, the Enstone based team is also trying hard to keep the veteran driver on its side for the next season.
The 2007 world champion has said that he wants a good overall package for him in the team for the next season and will not make his decision haphazardly. In addition, he asserted that he will do whatever he likes and is not concerned what others may think of him.
“There has to be an overall package that feels right to me,” Raikkonen said. “It might, whatever decision, feel stupid to somebody else, but then it might just feel right for me. I have no idea what will happen and we have to wait and see what will come.”
Even though, he stated that his choice may not prove out to be good in the long run. However, he insisted that he will completely back his decision. He also said that he is not base his decision over the difference in the teams.
“There is no guarantee that the choice will be the right one in the long run, but I will be fine no matter what it will be. You have to live with decision,” he said.
“At least in my knowledge the difference in teams is just a few days and it's not going to be deciding factor,” he added.
The Finn has performed tremendously well in the season so far. He is presently standing at 3rd place in the drivers’ championship with 116 points. Let’s see how he performs in the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.
