Kimi Raikkonen will not quit – Steve Robertson
Kimi Raikkonen is one of the most highly acclaimed drivers in motorsports currently as he won the 2007 Formula 1 championship with Team Ferrari at the very last race of the season. Kimi left Formula 1 after a disastrous 2009 Formula 1 season.
According to some rumours, it was revealed that he might return to the sport once again for the 2011 Formula 1 season but these rumours were played down by Kimi himself as he stated that he might never return to the sport.
However, Kimi Raikkonen’s father Matti Raikkonen passed away just two days before Christmas and as a result; it seems that Kimi is considering that he might leave World Rally Championship as well. This means that he might quit motorsports for good and hang
his helmet once and for all.
“Since the death of Matti Raikkonen, all the plans are on ice,” said his co-driver Kaj Lindstrom.
However, his 31-year-old manager Steve Robertson believes that he would not retire and it would definitely be a shocker to see a former Ferrari and McLaren driver retire so suddenly.
“There is a lot of talk and of course he is upset about his father's death, which is normal. I'm pretty sure Kimi will still be involved in motor sport.” Robertson said, amid rumours that a new deal with Citroen in the World Rally Championship is close.
He did not comment about whether Raikkonen will quit rallying or return to Formula 1 one day but it seems that just like Kaj said, it is all up to the Fin who is expected to reveal what he has in mind about his future soon.
Robertson did not want to comment on whether Raikkonen sees his future in rallying or whether a return to F1 one day is possible.
“Kimi is a world champion so of course he has many options. But at the moment, there is nothing to say. Well, its January so I don't think it's going to be a very long time,” said Robertson.
He indicated that it is just a matter of time that Kimi might get over it and this period of despair will soon be a part of the past.
