Kimi Raikkonen’s manager plays down chances of his return to the sport – Formula 1 news
Former McLaren and Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen was reported to be in talks with Team Williams for a possible deal for the 2012 Formula 1 season but these reports have been played down by his manager Steve Robertson.
Raikkonen visited the team’s factory sometime ago after which it was believed that it was possible about a race driver deal since the team is not confirming Rubens Barrichello’s seat either. Williams have hinted that they are thinking about their choices
at the moment.
“At the end of the day people know Kimi visited Williams, but there's nothing more to say apart from that. There is nothing more to report,” Robertson told GPUpdate.net.
This confirms that Kimi is in talks with the team regarding something and according to his manager’s statements, it seems that he did not want to reveal whether his driver is thinking of returning to the sport or not.
Raikkonen himself stated before the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season that he does not want to return to Formula 1 anytime soon.
Right now, his manager refused to confirm anything and claimed that the management would reveal relevant information whenever they feel the need to do so.
Other than the Finn, it is believed that Williams are interested in signing the Force Indian driver Adrian Sutil who has been doing a great job since the past 2 years. In 2011 this year, his team is in 6th place in the constructors’
standings ahead of Sauber making them the best of the back end of the mid-running teams of the sport.
Mercedes GP and Lotus Renault GP on the other hand are way ahead of them and it seems that it is going to be a tough battle between Force India, Sauber and Toro Rosso until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season for a solid constructors’ finish.
