I'm thinking of buying a Kincade saddle (all purpose). What do you think of Kincade? Pros, cons, reviews etc?

Thx!

  1. You can pay about the same amount for an old used crosby that is much better quality.

But of course make sure it fits your horse. Good luck.

  2. They are horrible, the leather is cardboard and the dye rubs off easily.

And I have learned the hard way that when they say All Purpose it cant be used for everything, they tend to put your leg out in front of you more than it needs to be.

I would suggest in buying a nice USED english saddle. They are already broken in and you can usually find a nice one around 400.

  3. Like everything, you will get what you pay for, but if you just want it as a first saddle or just to bash around in and your not worried about having the best or most expensive saddle, then I say go for it!

Kincade are a good budget saddle, and if you buy it new, you know where its been.

Pros- They are easy care, just wash with soap and water and your on your way. They are light and easy to handle, a great option for learning to ride. They dont cost you a small fortune, but do the same basic job as a more expensive saddle.

Cons- You will get what you pay for, so its not going to last a real long time. If you choose to sell it, your not going to make a great deal of money back on it. If it gets broken or damaged, you may as well just go buy a new saddle, its not going to be worth your money to have it fixed.

But if you take care of it, it may just last you a long time.

  4. I own a kincade stock saddle, one of the best investments apart from my wintec stock saddle

  5. I own two Kincade All Purpose Saddles in havana [well one now as I sold the other].

    Cons:

-Both are supposedly medium trees but one came waay wider.

-The leather color rubs off really easily on my second one that I bought a year later but my first one that is older shows barely ANY signs of wear because for the first year I owned it I cleaned it with a glycerine soap after EVERY ride [so you should do that if you buy one]

-The padding in the seat goes 100% flat and gone after about a year and a half.

    Pros:

-The first one fit my appendix QH amazingly well! The second we end up selling because it was just too wide.

-THE PRICE is FANTASTIC. Also you can get already broken in ones on ebay for about $150 [this is what I sold my one year old one for]

-The color is actually pretty both the havana and chocolate but I bought havana twice because there was no chocolate option at the time.

-You CAN do low level and breed shows in it. Almost everyone I saw who does the QH circuit in all around uses that as their english saddle.

-You can clean it just like any other leather saddle.

Just a tip: The all purpose is good for EVERYthing like trails and some arena work but if your more into hunter/jumper and showing I would reccommend you try the close contact, that is my only regret when I bought mine.

Overall if that is your price range and it will suit you I think you should buy it!

Heres one on ebay for you!:

  6. are those synthetic?

  7. Honesty, I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. Not only are all-purpose saddles putting you in a weird non-descript position that isn't truly correct for jumping or dressage, but Kincades are really just..cheap. It's not going to last you long, imo, invest in a high quality used saddle-Stubben and Crosby are brands that seriously last forever.

Look into Wintec, Dover saddles, M. Toulouse, Courbette, Collegiate, etc.-but Kincaid has never been reputable, honestly.
