Kinda Easy for Target Classic in Sunderland semis

Target Classic pulled off one of his greatest performances last night to beat ante-post favourite Lyreen Mover by six and a half lengths in the semi-finals of the williamhill.com Classic over 450m at Sunderland.

The Craig Dawson trained dog was quick away from trap four and took full advantage when Hungarian trained Mover lost footing at the first bend allowing him to take the lead and to finish clocking the fastest-time-of-the-night 26.85sec.

The odd compilers have shortened Classic’s odds to 7-2 to take next weeks £25,000 final.

Charlie Lister’s greyhound of the year Fear Zafonic once again managed to overcome trouble and took the opening semi in a time of 27.38sec.

The last semi would have seen many upsets in the betting ring as Blue Artisan was tipped up to be a sure favourite to win having great early pace and gifted with a vacant trap beside him.

Artisan was badly bumped after pinging well and failed to pay any dividends finishing last.

It was Pall Mall winner Ballymac Ace who won the semi clocking 27.04sec with no problems. The Chris Allsopp trained dog has a magnificent record and will surely be a big threat in the final.

Champions trainer Mark Wallis was represented by Grand Prix ante-post market leader Kinda Easy who didn’t have the best of performances in the first round but managed to clock the fastest time in the semis over 640m.

Easy remains the favourite after clocking 39.46sec and can be backed at 6-4 by sponsors to land the £15,000 prize.

Hesley Dingo took the first semi in 39.96sec with great use of early pace and was always in a leading position to beat favourite Fatboyz Diva by a length.

The same scenario was pretty much replicated in the last semi of the Grand Prix with England Expects clocking 39.58sec to beat favourite Anfi Gem by a length.

Thursday’s (live on Sky) draws:

Classic: 1 Lyreen Mover, 2 Romeo Reason, 3 Fear Zafonic, 4 Ballymac Ace, 5 Target Classic (m), 6 Mario Gomez (w).

Grand Prix: 1 Hesley Dingo, 2 Fatboyz Diva, 3 England Expects, 4 Anfi Gem, 5 He Went Whoosh (w), 6 Kinda Easy (w).

Puppies: 1 Droopys Pique, 2 Smoke Him Out, 3 Tudor Prince, 4 Blonde Snapper, 5 Mill Tornado (w), 6 Rayvin Giovanni (w).

Sprint: 1 Rotar Wing, 2 Royal Clover, 3 Jimmy Lollie, 4 Judicial Devil, 5 Officer Donagh, 6 Target Brett (w).
