  1. Since dogs descended from wolves supposedly then I would say it varies as it does with dogs usually at 6 months but could be as long as three years and some have only one heat a year some have two.  As far as wolves in the wild it would be dependent on the availability of food

  2. good question!  I would assume that they go into heat around 6-8 months like domestic dogs..  but I may be wrong!

A wolf will not likely breed during her first cycle tho.  In many wolf packs, mating is a right reserved for the Alpha male and female ONLY.  Its not likely that an immature wolf would make her way up to alpha status.

    ADDED

Not all domestic dogs have their first heat cycle before their first year either.. while 6-8 months is the norm.. I have heard of dogs who didnt cycle until 14 months of age or later!

    ADDED again:

Interesting Nekai!  I never knew that!

  3. Unlike domestic dogs, wolves don't come into heat until later than domestic dogs. I think it is above two years of age. They also only have one heat cycle per year, unlike dogs two. The only wolves who mate are the alpha male and female, none of the others from the pack do. This is natures way of population control, I guess.

  4. somewhere around 6 months of age.

  5. Female wolves don't come into heat until they're about 22 months of age and then they only come into heat once a year.

  6. Nekkid Bootie is right. And actually, often, a subordinate wolf female may not even come into heat with an alpha female around.

But otherwise, going on normal canine heat cycles, 4-8 months. (I know some people firmly believ 4 months is too young, but it happens, I've seen it 4 times)

Every animal is different, and some just simply do not come on heat until they are older! Half your luck if they dont come one heat until they are over 12 months of age.

  7. Pure wolves will come into their first estrus cycle between the ages of 2-4.

High contents - F1 bred to another F1 - may come in heat as early as one year.  Failure to cycle at one year, will result in a cycle the following year.

They do not start as early as domestic dogs, nor do they come into heat twice a year; only once a year and area/climate depending, will begin as early as December and as late as March-April.

Your pup, more than likely, will not begin an estrus cycle until next spring, or the one after.  Wolves and high contents do not begin a heat cycle at "X-months old" such as dogs do.  Their cycles always begin in the spring or late, later winter.
