Kindercare center on north elston?

i am trying to find out how other parent feel about kindercare center on elston. I know it is small but how is the staff and how they treat the kids. Does get crowded in summer time? please respond i have to make a decsion soon. thankyou.

I don't know about that center...

But I work for a kindercare in Chicago and we have to abide by dcfs licensing standards...

ratio for school age is 1 to 20

prek and 4's 1 to 10

3's 1 to 10

2's and jps 1 to 8

tods 1 to 5

waddlers and babies 1 to 4

Rooms are licensed for a certain amount of kids... I'm a school age teacher and I'm licensed for 26 kids so I need a 2nd teacher.

Kindercare is curriculum based etc.

I've heard of some centers on the west coast losing kids, and abusing kids.

If I were you I would take a tour and your child is entitled to one free day of play

i can't speak for the center you're asking about specifically, but find out some of the following things:

- What is the staff to child ratio in your state and ask kindercare what their staff to child ratio is. of course they'll follow the state regulations, but they might have even more staff then the state requires.

- Ask them what their staff turnover is like. from what i understand, kindercare is one of the better paying daycare type of places, so the staff turnover shouldn't be too bad if it's a good place to work.

- Find out if it is NAEYC accredited. if it is, they will have higher standards then your run of the mill daycare. also, that means the qualifications of the teachers is higher.

- You can ask what degree the lead teacher in each room has and how much experience they've had with kids.

- If you have time, you could attend a board meeting. that would give you a chance to meet people who have kids who go there and learn a little more about the center.

i'm not sure what state you're in, but here in virginia all the licensing reports are on line with our licensing agency.  in missouri (where i use to live) they were public records and you could go and view them at the agency office.  find out about your state and go read the records.  that is the best source you can use.
