Question:

Kindergarden Project?

My son is in Kindergarden and he needs to turn in a animal project next Thursday. He decided that his favorite animal is a dolphin. He is required to create some type of craft or art that he and myself have to create together. Teacher is telling me to use anything from construction paper, feathers, beans styrofome or anything. Where can I go to get information on how to create a dolphin.

  1. Cut out a shape of a dolphin.  Get your son to cut out pictures of things from the sea - other fishes, shells, sand etc from old mags, newspapers.  Get him to paste them on the dolphin like a mosaic.  At the back write down your child's participation, cutting, sticking etc.

  2. I don't know if the dolphin has to be a stuffed dolphin but if not here is what i would do.....

Draw a shape of a dolphin on large white poster board......cut it out and help the child color the dolphin......next, buy a blue posterboard........help the child draw a sea on it and sky with a magic marker..........glue the dolphin in the air.....this will look like he is jumping out of the ocean.

    Good Luck!

  4. My suggestion would be to keep it simple so that your child can actually participate in the project.  Go to this site to get a basic shape of a dolphin:  http://www.dolphinkind.com/coloringpages...

Then, using some gray or blue cardboard/tagboard/posterboard, copy the shape of the dolphin from the coloring page onto the tagboard.  Just draw it larger than the one on the coloring page.  Then cut it out. Then you and your son can glue on light-weighted items like small shells, pasta, cereal, small candies, sequins, etc.  in a pattern that pleases him.  Just be sure to glue the items securely, but regular glue should work.  As you are gluing, have him count the items he is gluing.  You can also work on forming patterns with what he is gluing. Example:  3 shells, a Cheerio, a button...then keep repeating it.  So while you are working on the dolphin, you are reviewing some kindergarten skills at the same time.  Hope this helps!

  6. You can get seashells, starfish, etc. at your local craft store or Wal Mart.  This would be a great medium to create the dolphin in.  I would try the Seaworld site to see what they have about dolphins.

The Ocean Diorama looked pretty cool! There is a price at the top for subscriptions but you don't have to pay to get the instructions on how to make the different things!

    Have fun

  8. www.enchantedlearning.com. Go to the arts and crafts section and go to the categories "d" for dolphin. Click what you need.

  9. internet is a beautiful thing...

    take advantage of it.

take advantage also of walmart, and its low prices. go to a craft store even, and ask the same question to an employee there.
