  1. Possum Come A Knockin' is hilarious!  My strudents begged me to read it, almost daily!

  2. Dog Breath is an excellent book.  It is written by Dav Pilkey.  It has really good pictures and a very funny story about a dog with bad breath who ends up saving the day.  I have read it to my kindergarten class and they really liked it.  It is also a great book for kids to make predictions to.

  3. Kids love the book "Stand Back," Said the Elephant, "I'm Going to Sneeze!" by Patricia Thomas.  It is funny and it rhymes too.  Great illustrations.

"Bad Case of Stripes" by David Shannon is about going to school and not having an identity-kids see what happens!  We need to be who we are or we can become crazy things like the main character in this book.

My students love these books!  Good luck and enjoy.

  4. The Fancy Nancy books are great - my kids love them!  Great vocabulary words, but funny and silly at the same time.  My kids also love "Walter the Farting Dog" which might be a bit much for some grownups, but the first time I read it I could not stop laughing.  The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig was one of the books the kids I taught in kindergarten loved.  "Gregory the Terrible Eater", "Cat you Better Come Home", "Please Puppy Please", and "Bootsie Barker Bites" are also popular with my kids.  I'm a bad teacher so I can't recall the authors, but they are pretty common books that you should be able to find at your local library.

  5. Try the picture book series from Usborne Books.  These are not necessarily silly, but tell about the life of a butterfly, a snowy day, a windy day, on the moon, etc - great illustrations and kids love them!  Also, try "There's a Monster in My House", "Who's Making that Smell?" and "Who's Making That Mess?" for sillier stories - even the titles are fun!  Search for them here:  http://www.ubah.com/g2687
