I don't know. It's being done at the school. They already have his immunization records. I think this is some kind of testing. Maybe to see if he's ready or not...

  1. It's just a little evaluation.  They'll check for the important stuff, like if he may need speech therapy or if he might have social problems.  They'll also do a quick evaluation of what he knows and if he's behind, ahead, or average.  Some schools will try to place all the behind kids in one class, all the ahead kids in another, etc, so that teachers don't have to bounce around with kids knowing and learning at all different levels.  Other schools actually try to balance out the classes with even numbers of kids at different levels.  Don't worry about anything.  =)

  2. My son just did his kindergarten screening on Wednesday.  It is just a little "sit down" with your child and either a teacher or other school professional to ask a few questions and evaluate what he knows and how he speaks.  The teacher told me afterwards that she asked him the same question a few different ways to see how he answered.  My best friend used to be a guidance counselor and she did these evaluations at her school and she told me that it is really their way of determining what level your child may be at (average, behind, a little ahead) so that they can adequately balance the classes.

  3. Is Kindergarten mandatory in your state? If not they may be watching to see if he is ready. Just monitor how he interacts with the other kids and how he handles being away from you, and taking orders from a teacher. Nothing to really worry about. If they say he is not ready try putting him in day care so he gets used to the idea before he starts 1st grade

  4. What thet do is try to find out what "level" your son is at. They will ask him his name, address, telephone #, colors, counting, the alphabet, ect. This way they can be prepared for the children come september, and know where they need to start.

  5. just basics like eyes & ears are in check I remember I used to get them done back in the day!! I think when they are in year 1 is when they get that booster shot & they have to get permission for that anyways so no stress!

  6. The will probably see if all his shots are up to date.  They change what they do all the time.

  7. My son goes for this in the fall- they do it right at the beginning of the school year here. The purpose of the evaluation is to identify where children are academically and to identify anyone who may have any special needs or need speech, things like that. Good luck! =]

  8. take a deep breath and relax mom its ok

all the testing is is to see  where you son is academically socially and what not. it gives the teacher an idea of where your child will be at and whether they will require alot of one on one time

  9. Basic Kindergarten readiness evaluation.
