  1. Living in Costa Rica is like living in a paradise. The lifestyle is better and more affordable. Check this article for more information.

  2. AWESOME~ definitely a 'laid-back' approach to living. Not like the US in so many ways~ HORRAY! The TICO people offer so much genuine kindness & helpfulness...they drive crazy yep...but there is NO ROAD RAGE! They live for the moment, due to road conditions etc, if rainy season decides to wash a road out, they simply adjust to the fact that they aren't traveling that way nor are there many alternative routes IF ANY! They will simply 'go with the flow'...We have learned a great deal from TICO people...we have learned invaluable truths...We are reminded by Tico living & lifestyles that surviving with the basics & even much one can do without is not only possible BUT also a great lifestyle! We in the America's & other well to do countries are so very materialistic we forget to 'stop-&-smell-the-roses'...Tico people DO ~ we even witnessed numerous times the Tico's would come in droves to 'watch-the sunsets' and "WHY" do we know this...cause they would applaud & express the appreciation of simply seeing the beautiful sunset with their loved ones...even the young children would wait & watch quietly...it was breathtaking to see, but UNBELIEVABLE to hear the silence other then the waves & natures critters...hundreds of people silently appreciating the moment of sunset is an amazing thing, no words can accurately define! PURA~VIDA!! (beautiful Tico expression)

Definitely a healthy simplistic lifestyle...good food, beauty to take one's breath away (if appreciative of nature & environment)...Life is beautifully different in beautiful Costa Rica~ without a doubt...something one must experience to understand & appreciate~ PURA~VIDA

  3. I live in Costa Rica, but am in the US temporarily where right now it is freezing cold with a lot of snow, wishing I were back in Costa Rica.  The previous answers I read tell it like it is.  I've been in CR five yrs and every day is like vacation for me.  I love it!:  Laid back with a bunch of very friendly people.

The lifestyle of the people around us (my wife and I) is agricultural.  A lot of them raise cattle and it seems they do ok economically and also grow a few crops and/or fruits.  The main thing I notice is that they're happy and stable and have more time (as compared to the US) to do what they want or when they want it.  Don't get me wrong:  they work very hard, BUT, they don't "punch a clock."

  4. I'm tico and I was going to explain you about living here, but MsSmurfy tell much better than I can do!!! All what he says is TRUE!!! What he miss is that if you want hot climate, go to any beach, if you like fresh climate, go to Braulio Carrillo National Park, or surrounding places, so rain can soak everything, and if you want cold weather just go to Cerro de la Muerte or Volcan Irazú near lodges and solved problem.

If you want to come, remember just one thing: HAVE FUN!!!

    Pura vida MsSmurfy!
