Bethesda and Microsoft have confirmed that the Elder Scrolls V will be receiving Kinect support very soon and that too for free, as a title update.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been an overwhelming hit in the gaming industry among both the consumers and the critics. It was already taken home a fair share of Game of the Year awards and bagged more nominations than one could dare to count.
However, the developers seem to want to expand on the already rich and immersive experience; having already released a Mod kit that allows the modding community to create a plethora of different mods of the popular action RPG.
The PlayStation 3 version of the game was full of bugs when it was released however, Bethesda, through a series of updates, has managed to get on top of the situation to an extent where the game is now playable.
The constant support does not end there as it has been announced that Skyrim will be getting a free title update by the end of this month which makes the game compatible for use with the Kinect.
Skyrim, with Kinect support, will then be able to make use of over 200 voice commands, including Dragon Shouts. Imagine actually yelling Fus-Do-Rah and sending hapless farm animals over cliffs, or other more intimidating enemies as well.
Along with the Dragon shouts, players can Hotkey a number of commands for Followers, Equipping and Menus as well. So instead of pressing buttons to tell his follower what to do, one can simply shout out the command.
It sounds exciting, but apart from the gameplay itself, gamers can use the Kinect compatibility to navigate through the game’s menus as well. Not only that but gamers will also be able to make use of Kinect exclusive map functions among other things.
Bethesda has announced that they will release a list highlighting all the commands one use with the Kinect update and it seems like a great move for everyone involved, from developers to the gamers who invest their time playing.
The studio has also released a trailer showcasing Skyrim making full use of the Kinect’s voice command ability.
