King Charles + King William?

I read somewhere that when Charles comes to the throne he is expected to start changes within the monarchy to make it more relevant in this day and age. Then William is expected to carry these changes on.

So does anyone know what these changes would be ???

  1. I think Charles will be less of a figurehead and more outspoken about issues that concern him.

I bet the Parliament is going to have a fit over that.

  2. The first thing he would have to change is the rule that a king cannot be married to a divorcee...isn't it so that his uncle abdicated for Wallace Simpson? Or he wouldn't be heir to the throne at all. Everyone seems to think the royal family should be like the rest of us, but if they were....wouldn't that defeat the object of having a royal family. Long live the queen and skip straight to William.

  3. I doubt Charles will ever be king if he had any respect when he married that trollop camilla he should have given up his chance to be King it should go to William although I think Harry would be a cooler king!

  4. The change will be in gender of the monarch.  other than that, there is nothing, i mean nothing, the figurehead can do, except maybe play polo.

  5. This is what you get from a Labour government! the monarchy is an ancient and respected institution. a symbol of British pride and heritage. it doesn't need change.

  6. The changes have already started -

The only people entitled to use the title HRH (and Prince or Princess) will be children of the Monarch or children of the eldest son of the Monarch and so on (i.e if William has children before the Queen dies his children will be titled, however, Harry's will not have the title Prince/princess or HRH). Those who already have the title will keep it but no more with the above exceptions.

The Civil List has already been cut, nobody receives money from it except the Queen she gives out money to various relatives if they carry out engagements on behalf of the nation but she is the only one actually getting any money.

It's difficult to say what other changes he may make. It is suggested that he will also reign as George VII (Charles III is thought to be extremely unlikely) and change the name of the Royal House to Mountbatten-Windsor but these are purely cosmetic changes.

  7. I think besides changing the coronation oath about "faith", he is planning to strip his nieces the Princess of York of their HRH!    Silly stuff that will keep the little Wales family rich and royal, and put everyone else down.  Such a funny game.

  8. From what I have heard, he plans to streamline the monarchy by making the line of succession smaller, and also cutting those permitted to be on the civil list.   There isn't really any indication of where the line will be cut, and who will be cut off financially.

He's not going to make himself very popular with some, but I think he already knows that.

  9. I haven't read what the changes are,but I expect the royal role model that the men may follow is King Juan Carlos of Spain. Juan Carlos took on more  political powers.

Another change that is possible deals with The Church of England; Charles has said that he want to be known as "Defender of the FAITHS," not "the Faith." It's possible that he will change the ban on Catholicism and the monarchy and be more open to the inclusion of other religions.

Changes to the Civil List and to whom a royal titles can go to in order to stream- line the number of royals has already been made. Only the monarch and spouse are on the Civil List. And Edward and Sophie  have two non-royal children;their parents maybe royal, but they are not high-up in the line of succesion so their titles are non-royal aristocratic titles-viscount and lady.

  10. The only way of making the monarchy relevant to this day and age is to get rid of it.
