King Snake:)?

Allright, I just got my first snake, its a king snake. Its about a year old, and the pet store said just ate on saturday.

Any tips from previous or current owners?

  1. theire bite doesn't hurt so don't worry about that. They're so easy to take care of it's ridiculous. It may spray when you pick it up which means it's nervous and releasing a scented urine. Dont' freak out, just keep holding it and it should stop. Some king snakes may not do this though. It also may shake it's tail like a rattlesnake if nervous but just be confident when handling or picking up. and if for any reason it's not eating for 2 or 3 weeks, don't freak out. Snakes can live a long time w/out eating and this can be typical.

    Just get it out and hold it let it get used to you..

  3. King snakes aren't the best first snake-owner pets.

    Did you know they can strike they're own body length! According to Steve Irwin, the Croc Hunter, they're bites hurt like h**l!
