King Tut on display?

I was wondering...what do you think about the whole king tut thing? I think its pretty mean that they just take the dude, take all his stuff off and put him on display. - he was a person, not some peice of art. I don't know. I just think that if i were a famous dead queen, I would not want to be put on display in front of people. I say just leave him alone. Jeez.

It sounds kind of gross to put his body parts on display, lol. But we don't really see historical figures as human, especially ancient Egyptian kings. I mean we barely see our celebs and politicians as human, why consider someone who was deemed a god in his day a human?

It's just a shell of his mortal self. Putting it on display doesn't mean desecrating his body.

Like the first answerer said, this is another life for him. Perhaps not exactly what he had in mind, but nevertheless.

Have you ever been to Egypt, or Greece, seeing ruins and columns that date from three to five thousand years ago. Being able to touch those gives you the shivers, it's a special kind of feeling. You're in touch with something so ancient that had survived all this time, all the wars, natural diseasters and devastation. It's quite majestic.

Putting King Tut on display is in some way similar to that.

Some people will find it fascinating, while to others it will be nothing but a very old corpse.

I suppose each individual should make their mind up on this matter.

Well I see what you mean, but at the same time there is an interest for seeing the face of someone who lived around 1300 B.C. I mean I myself think it's kinda neat. I mean heck if people what to dig me up 1300 years from now and look at my dead body let'em. I could really care less, I mean lord knows I would have looked better, but if it helps people feel a connection to history and bring alive the past, go for it. I think this will kinda help show people and help many see that the people we talk about and read about in history were real people just like you and I. It allows people to feel closer to history and gain an interest in former cultures and civilizations then I think a lot of positive things can come from it. Most people see history as a bunch of dates and people who were not people really at all but like some super human. This helps to show that they were just people of a time long past. So I think some good can really come from this myself. =)

Ah, do you know that the whole point of the preservation of the Pharaohs (Mummification) is so that they could live again in the next life?

Well, by putting them on display now, they are living again in a way, in all their splendor.

I agree that we should show respect to them, & i think that that is what happens when people go to see them, i have seen with my own eyes how visitors react when they enter the mummy room in Cairo; i felt such awe of them.
