King of Clay Rafael Nadal honours Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo – Tennis News
The Spanish powerhouse and world No. 2 Rafael Nadal has expressed his appreciation for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid striker and captain of the Portugal national football team. Nadal has been a fan of Ronaldo, both of them
having their own culture within the sports realm and accumulating fan base in millions. Nadal said that, “he likes him more than ever” and stated that he admires the way Ronaldo has brought change in the game.
Nadal, the King of Roland Garros, is a big fan of Ronaldo and lauds the way he tackles the ball. In Nadal’s opinion, Ronaldo’s confident stance on the field, his attacking style of play and his ability to shoot to the goal from
long distances has been a major success factor in his career, giving major wins to his club and national football team. The Spaniard tennis star, attired in shorts and shirt, was in high spirits while having a casual conversation in a hotel with the football
player, who has been part of various on-field controversies but, at the same time, has been a frontrunner in scribbling the ball and intimidating the opponents with his free kicks and speedy passes.
Although both players have been part of a different sport altogether, it is the passion for their game, which has given them immense fame and excellence in their respective sporting professions. The way both tackle the ball is
indeed a peculiar similarity. Where Nadal has the ability to smash and serve with blistering force, Ronaldo on the other hand, has the power to swirl and shoot the ball into the nets – an ability that he has perfected over the years. The 10-time Grand Slam
winner, including six French Open titles and two Wimbledon Championship wins, was enthused by the teamwork and sportsmanship shown by the top scorer at the 2010-11 La Liga and winner of the 2008 World Soccer Player of the year award. Nadal viewed Ronaldo to
have matured as a player and raised the standards of his play, and acknowledged Ronaldo’s team skills to let his teammates score a goal. Nadal was pleased to see that Ronaldo did not have much scoring options but to create scoring opportunities for his team
is what makes him a great captain.
Nadal and Ronaldo have both reached the pinnacle of their respective sports at a young age and created history with their ingenuity and insights about their playing styles and an in-depth knowledge about their competitors. In the
current season, Ronaldo has scored 10 goals for Real Madrid in his eight appearances, taking his overall club level goals to 163. Nadal, on the other hand, has been in action but came dropped to world number 2 spot after Serbian Novak Djokovic defeated Jo-Wilfred
Tsonga in the semi-finals of the 2011 Wimbledon Championships.
