Kingda Ka?

Question

I was just wondering... next summer my family and i are going to six flags new jersey all for the kingda Ka (from St. Louis!) and i was just wanting to know, what circumstances would cause it to be closed? how offend is it closed?

major wind, and probably MAJOR rain and thunder/lightning storms, saying how fast and high it goes.

Kingda Ka does go "down" occasionally. It is a very high-tech coaster, and if any of the readings are out-of-spec, it will shut down until adjustments are made.

Also, KK is not allowed to run in the rain. Not that it can't... but at 128 mph, even a light rain will feel like your face is being sandblasted...

I've been at the park when KK was down. They try to get it up and running again as quickly as possible. The management at SFGA is very conscientious and wants you to have a good day!

I went to the park alone last year on sort of a whim, only to find that KK was down. Had a great day anyway riding the other great coasters, and got on the line for KK around 9:30pm even though it wasn't running. What the heck...

Well, the line kept getting shorter because people were leaving, and the die-hards got a real treat when the ride came back on line. I ended up getting front seat on the last ride of the night.

Think positive, have a "plan B", and call ahead to the park just in case they are taking it down for maintenance or whatever.

Like the person above suggested, I would recommend Cedar Point, hands down.  Why go to a park for one coaster when you can go to an multi-year award-winning park with 17 coasters with one being almost identical to Kindga Ka?

I'm from St. Louis too and I just want to know WHY IN THE WORLD you are going all the way to New Jersey when you can go half that distance to Cedar Point and ride Top Thrill Dragster?  I have been on both and trust me, Dragster is MUCH better.  Only has a lapbar for restraint, a MUCH cooler theme, and rarely breaks down while Kingda Ka (a total ripoff and S**t theme) breaks down much more often and has shoulder restraints.  Plus Cedar Point has much better rides overall although Six Flags G-Adventure is probably 2nd.  Millennium Force, Maverick, Wicked Twister, Magnum, Skyhawk, MaxAir, Power Tower, Raptor and so on and so on.  Plus believe me, you won't even notice the 36 foot difference in height between the 2 rides or the speed.  The only thing you will notice is how much rougher Kingda Ka is than Dragster as Dragster is extremely smooth.  Do yourself a favor and go to Cedar Point instead.
