Beats out competition from the likes of Final Fantasy XIII-2, the Darkness 2 and Metal Gear Solid to top the weekly software sales charts in the UK.
Another seven weeks have flown by in the hectic video game industry with a number of events taking place. The highlight of the week had to be the Interactive Achievement Awards, where some of the biggest names in gaming were honoured.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ran away with the biggest prize on the night as it was crowned the Academy’s Game of the Year, beating out competition from the likes of Portal 2 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
However, Skyrim does finally have some competition when it comes to the sales charts in the United Kingdom in the form of the latest action RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Skyrim could only manage a ninth place finished in the charts, which is understandable seeing how long ago it was released as well as the lack of downloadable content.
Ubisoft’s own record breaking title, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, is also at the twilight of its best selling days, with the game also slipping slowly out of the top ten spots. It currently occupies the number eight spot.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have gotten off to a record breaking start, yet in recent weeks its closest competitor has been selling batter than it. That competitor is Battlefield 3, which currently sits one spot above Modern Warfare 3 in sixth place.
FIFA 12 has to be the best football simulation game in history and kicks off the top five spots in the charts. Solid Snake however, stealthily managed to climb onto the number four spot with its latest collection, which is titled ‘Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.”
The Darkness 2’s guts and gore filled gameplay has been selling well as it settles in at number three with Final Fantasy XIII-2 ending the week as the runner-up.
That means that the game that boasted it had better combat than Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning finishes the week as the best selling game in the United Kingdom.
