Kinglet glorifies the records of his trainer by winning the Group 3, UAE 2,000 Guineas on 9th February
Mahmood Al Zarooni celebrated a straight successive win in the Group 3, UAE 2,000 Guineas sponsored by Dubal on 9th February through his entry, Kinglet, who was sent as the  2 to 1 favourite of the race.

Just last year, the same title was claimed by the four-year-old Splash Point. Even after a year’s gap, the Mahmood Al Zarooni entry got instantly followed by trainer M De Kock’s tarinee, which last year was, Zanzamar, and this time, Mickdaam.
Under Mickael Barzalona, Kinglet followed his racing pattern of becoming prominent only towards the concluding stages of the race.

After breaking from the fifth stall, Kinglet broke into a gentle stride, settling eighth on a field of nine competing.
The three-year-old colt, Kingmambo, out of Karen’s Caper, started advancing when there were three more furlongs left to be raced, and progressed steadily through the track, over riding the cluster gradually that was passing the quarter-mile pole.
M De Kock trained Mickdaam and Brian Meehan trained, Mehdi, were the only two horses that had to be dealt with in the final furlong.

After surpassing Mehdi, Kinglet took a neck’s lead from Mickdaam, and finished the mile distance in a minute and 37.72 seconds.
Mickdaam and Mehdi reserved the two places after the winner, and Saeed bin Suroor’s much anticipated entry, Rassam, could only manage the seventh position in the race, with Frankie Dettori onboard.
On 3rd February, which served to be the sixth fixture of the Carnival, Mahmood Al Zarooni trained 1 to 2 favourite, Gamilati won the UAE 1,000 Guineas sponsored by Gulf News.
Al Zarooni said: "Mickael had ridden him before which was a benefit. He loved the surface and, stepping up a furlong further, he ran better, which is why I think he won the race"
Al Zarooni continued: "The plan is to go to the Derby. I am not 100 per cent sure he will stay or not because after the race he looked very tired.Maybe it was the pace, I don't know but we will go back home, see how he is and if he is okay we
will try him."
Before 9th February, Kinglet was second at about seven furlongs on 12th January 2012 in the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial, and had won a conditions race over a mile on 12th October 2011,
both races served as a worthwhile prep races for the final mile’s distance on 9th February.
