Kinglet’s hidden talent may bloom in the UAE Derby Sponsored By The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group
UAE Derby Sponsored By The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group is the highly anticipated event at Meydan today. With possibly the best line-up of runners, it is going to be an action-packed event. The 14 runners will be competing over 1 mile, 1 furlong
and 110 yards for £774,194 on 31st March, 2012.
On 26th March, 2011, the UAE Derby Sponsored By The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah was conquered by race favourite, Khawlah, who defeated American runner Master Of Hounds by a marginal difference of a nose.

Trained by Saeed Bin Suroor, the daughter of Cape Cross, out of mare Villarrica, pleased her connections with the massive victory.

Ridden by Mickael Barzalona, the four-year-old filly stayed on well under pressure and led the last stride. Saeed Bin Suroor does not have a runner competing in this particular race, but has a brilliant record as seven of his runners have succeeded
in this race.
Lucky Chappy, trained by H. Graham Motion for owners Team Valor International, will race with all his might in this race. The son of High Chaparral, out of Germane, finished as a runner-up in both starts of the season.
Mounted by J.J. Castellano, he entered the Kitten’s Joy Stakes as a favourite with the odds of 11 to 10 at Gulfstream Park on 21st January, 2012. He maintained his composure throughout the race and made steady progress, but
had no chance of keeping up with the winner, Howe Great, who finished 2 ½ lengths ahead.
He lost to Daddy Nose Best, in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields on 19th February, 2012, by a marginal difference of a nose. Today, he will be saddled by A. Garcia, whose aim is to cross the wire first and
down the majestic victory.
Daddy Long Legs, the three-year-old colt, will bring a tough level of competition today. The son of Scat Daddy, out of mare Dreamy Maiden, landed a victory in his career maiden as he defeated Outback by 1½ length in the Irish Stallion Farms European
Breeders Fund Maiden at Gowran Park on 10th August, 2011.
Trained by A.P O’Brien for owners M. Tabor, D. Smith, and Mrs. John Magnier, the young runner bagged another victory in the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on 24th September, 2011. Saddled by jockey C. O’Donoghue,
he maintained a steady lead and finished 3 ¼ lengths before Tenth Star.
Despite his twelfth place finish in the Grade 1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs on 5th November, 2011, the odds are stacking in his favour. O’Brien’s runners have known to run well, and Daddy Long Legs is
expected to break through all barriers and triumph in this race.
Kinglet’s ability and skill today must not be under-estimated. He is in good form ready to tackle all sorts of obstacles. He bagged a victory in the beginning of the season when he was teamed with jockey Mickael Barzalona in the UAE 2000 Guineas Sponsored
By Dubai at Meydan on 9th February, 2012. He raced as a favourite using the 2 to 1 odds to his benefit. His victory was narrow, as he finished ¼ of a length before Mickdaam.
The Mahmood Al Zarooni trained three-year-old’s victory will please his owners Godolphin to a great extent.  Under Barzalona, he finished seventh in the Al Bastakiya Sponsored By Emirates At Meydan on 10th March, 2012. He is
the under-dog in this race but there is a chance that his hidden potential will surface and bag the majestic glory.
Lucky Chappy is the leading contender of this race, but he is against some serious competition. Daddy Long Legs may challenge him, giving him a run for his money. Kinglet may not be the market leader, but his latent talent may emerge on the track.
