Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils will face each other in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) fourth edition, at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Himachal-Pradesh-c791 Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, on May 15, 2011.
Punjab, under the leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, have played 11 matches thus far, out of which they have won only five and are placed at the sixth spot in the points table with ten points.
On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils are languishing at the bottom with four wins out of their 12 matches so far.
Former Australian player, Adam Gilchrist is the most talented player of his team. He was first signed by Deccan Chargers in the opening season of the IPL for US$700,000. The skipper while playing the fourth match of the inaugural season for Deccan, amassed
the second fastest century in the IPL.
During the second season, the former cricketer showed more improvement in his leadership qualities and helped his team to win their first title.
Moreover, Gilchrist is the first player to pile up 1000 runs in the Indian League. Playing in 57 IPL matches played thus far, the wicket-keeper-batsman has scored 1437 runs at an average of 25.66 including one century and eight fifties.
In the ongoing season, the veteran was contracted by Punjab for US$900,000. Although, his team started the season with a defeat to Pune Warriors, in the next matches, Punjab enjoyed three successive victories.
In the second win, Gilchrist played a useful innings of 61 off 46 balls, including five fours and three sixes. He gave a poor show during defeats to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, as in both of the clashes, he went for ducks. The skipper
gave patchy batting performances in rest of his matches.
Gilchrist made a strong comeback in the tournament with a marvellous victory over the mighty Mumbai Indians during the 54th match. Carrying this winning form, Punjab also thrashed Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 in their last match.
The 39 year-old has scored 217 runs while playing 11 innings of the current season.
On the other side we have, James Hopes as Delhi’s current captain. He has just taken over the responsibility after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429 quit the League in order to tend to his shoulder injry.
The veteran holds brilliant bowling and batting records and has the experience to deal with tough situations. He is an able batsman and can bat at any place in the lineup.
Similarly, his bowling is also equally effective. In 2011 IPL season, he was signed in for $350,000.
Hopes has scored 189 runs, while playing in eight innings of the ongoing tournament, at an average of 47.25.
Playing the remaining matches of the IPL, would be a different experience for Hopes, as he now has a dual responsibility.
The competition between both the teams is expected to be exciting, however, none of the two have any chances to make it to the next stage of the tournament.
