Kingsbarns Golf Links ranked as the Number One Modern Course in Great Britain and Ireland by Golf Digest
Earlier this year, one of the renowned American magazines, GolfWeek, ranked Kingsbarns Golf Links, near St Andrews in Scotland, as the Number One Modern Course across the Great Britain and Ireland.
Kingsbarns Chief Executive, Alan Hogg, said that the management of the Golf Club is really pleased to receive such an esteemed award.
The Kingsbarns has always been known for its state-of-the-art facilities and especially the location where is built. Getting such an overwhelming response from the players and golf followers was quite a boost for the club.
“We could not have wished for a better start to 2012 than by achieving more recognition from the golf industry. We are delighted that three leading golf publications in the USA rate Kingsbarns so highly and agree that it is such a special place to play
golf,” he said.
“This is a fantastic achievement when you consider how strong the competition is here in Scotland alone and it is a real boost for the golf tourism industry”.
“We are currently very busy preparing for the 2012 golf season and look forward to giving a warm welcome to the thousands of golfers playing at Kingsbarns this year,” he added.
According to the GolfWeek ranking list, the Castle Stuart, Inverness Scotland, stood second, followed by the Loch Lomond Golf Club as the third best.
As the Kingsbarns is already known for its beautiful environment and dynamic playing courses, the award by the GolfWeek added to its prestige and importance among the golf lovers.
It also increased the number of people coming to the Kingsbarns Golf Links to enjoy the game of golf at its best.
The management of the magazine chose the golf clubs that were built after 1960 to be rated against different criteria.
The golf clubs were rated for their ease and intimacy, the environment and greenery on the courses, the features available and their quality, variety of the holes present and the location of the clubs where they are built.
Among all the rating requirements, Kingsbarns was chosen as the best and received the maximum number of points against the others.
This award made the management of the club feel more proud and prestigious among all other golf courses present in Great Britain and Ireland.
